ASB Academy is looking for a commercially strong and entrepreneurial Profit & Loss Manager to take ownership of business growth, revenue and profitability.
This is a leadership opportunity for someone who sees beyond a sales target and understands the complete business — market opportunity, customer acquisition, revenue, pricing, partnerships, costs, margins, people and profitability. We are looking for an individual who can think like a business owner, act with autonomy and deliver measurable outcomes. The person in this role will be expected to shape business strategy, identify growth opportunities, build and strengthen revenue channels, lead teams and take accountability for the overall commercial performance of the business.
The Opportunity
ASB operates at the intersection of EdTech, with learning and capability-building offerings across areas including Blockchain, IT, AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing and emerging technologies. The business serves multiple segments including individuals, universities, corporates and government.
This creates an opportunity for a business leader who can identify where the strongest commercial opportunities lie, build the right go-to-market approach and turn those opportunities into sustainable and profitable growth.
What You Will Own
Your mandate will span the complete business cycle:
Market → Strategy → Go-to-Market → Sales → Revenue → Customers → Partnerships → Costs → Margins → Profitability → Scale
You will be accountable for the outcome, not simply the activity.
P&L & Business Ownership
- Own the end-to-end P&L of the assigned business and take accountability for revenue, costs, margins and profitability.
- Develop annual and quarterly business plans aligned with growth and profitability objectives.
- Translate business goals into clear commercial strategies, priorities and execution plans.
- Own revenue forecasting, budgeting and business performance planning.
- Monitor business economics and identify opportunities to improve margins, pricing, cost efficiency and contribution.
- Make commercially sound decisions based on financial data, customer insights and market intelligence.
- Identify underperforming areas early and take decisive corrective action.
- Maintain a strong balance between growth, investment, customer value and profitability.
- Provide leadership with clear visibility on business performance, risks, opportunities and the actions required.
Revenue & Sales Leadership
- Own the overall revenue strategy and sales performance of the business.
- Build a scalable and predictable sales engine across relevant customer segments.
- Identify high-value markets, customer segments, accounts and channels.
- Drive the complete commercial lifecycle — from opportunity identification and pipeline development to negotiation, closure and revenue realization.
- Develop strategies to improve acquisition, conversion, retention and customer lifetime value.
- Lead strategic and high-value customer conversations and negotiations.
- Develop pricing and commercial models that support both market growth and healthy margins.
- Build and expand strategic partnerships and channels to create new sources of revenue.
- Continuously assess sales performance and improve the efficiency and economics of the revenue engine.
Market Development & Business Expansion
- Identify emerging opportunities across the education and learning ecosystem.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer needs across individual learners, universities, corporates, government and other institutional segments.
- Identify new markets, geographies, customer segments and revenue opportunities.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new and existing offerings.
- Use market intelligence, customer feedback and competitive insights to influence business strategy.
- Identify opportunities for new programs, offerings, partnerships and commercial models.
- Build a strong understanding of competitive positioning and continuously identify ways to strengthen market differentiation.
Strategic Partnerships & Institutional Business
- Build and maintain relationships with universities, institutions, corporates, government organizations and strategic partners.
- Identify partnership opportunities that can create meaningful business value and scalable revenue.
- Develop commercial partnerships and institutional relationships from opportunity identification through execution.
- Negotiate mutually beneficial commercial arrangements while protecting business objectives and margins.
- Build a strong network within the education and technology ecosystem.
Leadership & Team Ownership
- Build, lead and develop high-performing sales and business teams.
- Establish clear targets, ownership areas and performance expectations.
- Create a culture focused on accountability, commercial thinking and measurable outcomes.
- Develop team capability across sales, negotiation, relationship management and business development.
- Identify organizational and capability gaps and build the structure required to support growth.
- Empower teams to make decisions while maintaining clear accountability for results.
Cross-Functional Business Leadership
- Work closely with Product, Technology, Finance, Operations and other functions to convert business priorities into execution.
- Bring customer and market insights into product and offering decisions.
- Partner with Finance to maintain visibility into business economics, forecasts and profitability.
- Work with Product and Technology teams to ensure offerings remain aligned with market demand.
- Prioritize initiatives based on business impact, customer value and commercial potential.
- Proactively remove business bottlenecks and accelerate execution.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who has the commercial maturity to own a business, not simply manage a function.
The right candidate:
- Thinks in terms of business outcomes rather than activities.
- Understands that revenue growth and profitability must go together.
- Can identify opportunities without waiting for direction.
- Has strong business and financial acumen.
- Is comfortable working with ambiguity and making informed decisions.
- Can convert strategy into execution and execution into measurable results.
- Understands customers, markets, competition and commercial economics.
- Is confident in challenging assumptions and proposing better approaches.
- Takes accountability when results fall short and focuses on solving the problem.
- Can operate at both levels — strategic discussions with leadership and hands-on commercial execution.
- Builds teams that take ownership rather than creating dependency.
- Has the ambition to build and scale, not merely manage an existing operation.
Mandatory Experience & Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Mandatory experience in EdTech.
- Proven experience in Sales and Business Development leadership.
- Demonstrated experience with P&L, revenue ownership or business-unit ownership.
- Strong understanding of revenue, pricing, margins, costs, profitability and forecasting.
- Proven track record of delivering measurable business and revenue growth.
- Experience building and leading sales/business development teams.
- Experience in B2B, B2C and/or institutional/enterprise sales.
- Strong exposure to strategic partnerships and business development.
- Excellent commercial negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities.
Preferred Background
We would particularly value candidates who have previously operated in roles such as:
Business Head | P&L Head | Business Unit Head | Revenue Head | Growth Head | Commercial Head | Sales & Business Head | EdTech Business Leader
Experience in building or scaling an EdTech/education business, launching new revenue streams, developing institutional partnerships or expanding into new markets will be an advantage.
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping and scaling an education and learning business.
You will have the autonomy and responsibility to influence business strategy, identify growth opportunities, build revenue channels, develop partnerships, strengthen teams and directly impact the commercial performance of the business.
We are looking for someone who wants more than a designation — someone who wants ownership, influence and the opportunity to build something substantial.
